Ballet School Brings Performance to St. Michael Library Today

The beloved holiday classic comes to St. Michael this afternoon before two shows in Elk River Saturday. Dec. 14.

The North Ballet Youth Company will be performing a free community show of the Nutcracker Ballet at 3:30 p.m. today at the St. Michael library at 3:30 pm., offering the public a "sneak preview" of its annual show, set for Dec. 14 at the Elk River Zabee Auditorium.
Shows will be held at 1 p.m. and again at 4:30 p.m. at the theater, which is located at Elk River High School.

According to NYBC, the school welcomes local ballet students to audition and study under the artistic direction of a professional ballerina as they learn and bring the magical holiday classic, "The Nutcracker Ballet," to life. Breanna Dvorak, who graduated from the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy of Russia, is the current artistic director. Dvorak has been teaching and coaching over one hundred local ballet students in preparation for two awe inspiring Nutcracker productions to be held on Dec. 14th.

The North Ballet Youth Company, currently rehearsing in Rogers, was founded with the mission to bring classical ballet to the community. The North Ballet Youth Company (NBYC) is a recognized 501c3 non-profit organization that is operated and cared for by a talented, devoted and visionary team of volunteers from all walks of life.

The local youth of the NBYC also have the honor and privilege of working with the professional talents of three ballet professionals for the 2013 production: Mr. Luke Tucker, a Minnesota local, playing the role of Herr Drosselmeyer; and two who join the NBYC from the prestigious Ballet West—Mr. Christopher Sellars, who plays the role of Cavalier, and Ms. Arolyn Williams, who plays the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
