An Introduction from Congressional Candidate Jim Graves

Jim Graves is running for Congress in the Sixth District. This is a short introduction from him about his background to the St. Michael Patch readers.

Hello to the people of St. Michael, Albertville, Otsego, Hanover, and surrounding communities! My name is Jim Graves and I am running to represent you in Congress. I want to take a moment and let you know a little about my background.

I grew up in the north side of St. Cloud attending St. Paul’s Catholic grade school and Cathedral High School, working odds jobs to pay my tuition. It was at Cathedral High where I met Julie, and we got married a few years later. I then went to St. Cloud State University and graduated with a degree in education. During those years, my Julie and I got to know the Sixth District by performing folk music from Avon to Elk River. After graduating from SCSU and teaching sixth graders for two years, I started my own company—which became known as the AmericInn™ hotel chain.

Through the years, the family business has grown and there have been many successes. I have been quite blessed in my work and professional life, but I still value my family and the friends around me more than anything else. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 39 years and we now have three sons and seven grandchildren.

I’ve been fortunate enough to live the American Dream and I am grateful for that. I hope to give back to serve the community that has allowed me to pursue all the things in life I have accomplished.

I hope to see all of you on the campaign trail!
