PDC Olympics A Success!

Learn about a great event that the Women of Today put on, and learn how to get involved with more great events for our community!

The STMA Women of Today were at it again, planning another fun event for our communities.  This time, it was the People with Developmental Challenges Olympics (PDC), which took place on Saturday, October 27th.  Over 150 participants, caregivers, family members, and volunteers congregated at the Fieldstone Elementary School for the 20th Annual PDC Olympics.  Given the proximity to Halloween, many participants arrived in costume, and many of the games had a Halloween theme.  Participants vied for medals in games such as bowling, plinko, dice, golf, bean bags, an obstacle course, Halloween-themed concentration, animal bucket drop, solo cup stacking, and spider ring toss!  After the scores were tabulated, 30 talented participants were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.

There were many other activities for participants and caregivers to do together, which included visiting a photobooth loaded with plenty of props for fun pictures, pumpkin decorating, face painting provided by the St. Michael Foundation, and bingo!  Four therapy dogs also visited in costume, and greeted all participants.

Finally, no one left hungry, as a delicious lunch was served and a “Take and Make” snack mix station was available, with 9 different kinds of treats!
