Newly Crowned Jr. Miss Holland shares her thoughts...

Saturday morning started off with a trip to the Friendly City Days carnival to visit the Albertville Royalty Root Beer Float stand. There I got to have a yummy float and make a paper sash decorated with stickers and markers. My favorite game that I played was tossing whiffle balls on to the tops of colorful cups. If your ball landed on one that was colored, you won a prize. I won a giraffe and pink dolphin stuffed animal. I also played on a fun maze pirate ship. The best part was the wiggly bridges. They were a little scary but still fun. I got to see a bunch of my friends from school there and the other Sr. and Jr. candidates. Later that day we went to a spaghetti dinner. I got to go up on stage and introduce myself to everyone with the rest of the Jr. candidates. The food was really good, especially the cookies!

Sunday was the BIG day. My first ever parade! It was raining but I was still very happy. I got to ride on a convertible, another first, with my Sr. buddy Jenny. It was so much fun to wave to people and see friends watching the parade. We were at the beginning of the parade so I got to watch some of the other floats and a clown with bright pink hair. Afterwards we ate lunch at McDonalds…a Happy Meal for me!

Soon it was time to find out who would be getting crowns. It was fun to see all the neat things the current court got to do over the past year. We watched a video that had some pretty funny pictures too. I could tell by the speeches we heard that everyone had a fun year.

Time to line up! All of the Jr candidates came out on the stage and lined up to find out who would be on the next royal court. Jr candidate Jacob was picked first. He was in my class this year! Then, my twin brother! I was SO happy for him. I held hands with the kids next to me waiting for the girls to be selected. The first Jr Miss crown went to Maddy. We were in the same first grade class too. I was nervous and excited. Finally the next Jr Miss would be crowned. After Jr Miss Brittney danced the new crown in front of us and behind us, she put it on my head. I could not believe I was going to be a Jr Miss Albertville. It was the happiest day of my life. We took a zillion pictures after that with family, the new court and tons of royalty from all of the different towns.

I am so excited to spend my summer meeting new friends, riding on the float and buying new clothes.
