The very first principal of St. Michael-Albertville Elementary, the original school in the , has died.
Duane Merton Auger, who passed away last Wednesday at the age of 81 at Maple Grove Hospital, came to STMA in 1967 to lead the growing school-aged community here.
He spent several years in STMA, before heading west to Maple Lake, where he was also an administrator.

Funeral services were held at thein St. Michael on Saturday. Duane Auger, a Navy veteran, will be buried at Ft. Snelling National Cemetary tomorrow.
