Obituary: Dick Wendel, Albertville

Richard B. “Dick” Wendel, 79, of Albertville passed away on Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at Park View Care Center.

He was born on March 1, 1933 in Robbinsdale the son of Herman and Dorothy Marquardt Wendel.

Dick honorably served his Country in The United States Navy.

He was employed for many years as an appliance serviceman.

On May 4, 1996, Richard B. Wendel & Virginia Bistodeau were joined in holy marriage.

Dick was a past president of The Albertville Lions Club and an active member for the last thirty five years.

He loved his family and was a good family man! 

Dick was an excellent woodworker and through the years enjoyed riding Harley- Davidson motorcycles. He was also very fond of his dogs “Freddy” and “Teddy”.

Dick and Virginia enjoyed spending summers on Ann Lake near Ogilvie and winters in New Port Richey, Florida.

He was a faithful member of Life in Christ Lutheran Church in Albertville.

Survived by loving wife: Virginia; children: Kathy (Tracy) Wendel, Bob (Kari) Wendel and Tom (Kate) Wendel; grandchildren: Demi, Devin, Kali and Kasi Wendel; a great grandchild: Ayla Barthel; step children: Judy (Jim) Vetsch, Michael (Kelly) Bistodeau and Mark (Carol) Bistodeau; step grandchildren: Todd (Kristie) Vetsch, Jenner (Tony) Underwood, Jessica (Chris) Meire, Janine, Alex, Ben and Zach Bistodeau; step great grandchildren: Ashley Vetsch, Amber Vetsch and Megan Underwood; a sister: Bonny (Mike) Brandenberg; a brother: Dan (Phillis) Wendel; other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by his first wife: Gail in 1995, a son: John in 1965, his parents and by a brother “Jim”.

A visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday, July 7th from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service.

A Memorial service for Richard “Dick” Wendel will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 7:00 P.M. at Life in Christ Lutheran Church in Albertville. Pastor Michael Trask will officiate.

Interment with military rites Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
