Albertville Fire Department Hosts Open House, Contests

Spend a Saturday morning with guys that have the the "will" to eat and the skill to fight fires.

The Albertville Fire Department opened its doors – and garage bays – to the community Saturday, June 11, for its annual open house. 

The morning and afternoon including everything from tours of the fire trucks and machines, to a pizza and hot wing eating contest. 

"It's just a great way for us to get to know the community, and for them to come and meet us," said Fire Chief Tate Mills.

The food-eating contests were a new twist. Winners for the pizza contest were Jared and Nick of St. Michael - "We picked them up off the street," Mills said. The two men ate a large pizza the fastest out of seven selected teams.

Winning the wing contest was a duo from the Albertville Fire Department.

The Albertville Fire Department also took home the trophy from this year's Firemen's Skills Competition, which featured teams from St. Michael, Albertville and Hanover.
