A truck or SUV burst into flames in the eastbound lane of Interstate 94 around 7 p.m. Wednesday night, complicating an already difficult drive for commuters after a winter squall came through just a couple hours before.

Albertville Fire was on scene, but it appeared via witness photos and Minnesota Department of Transportation cameras that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters and Minnesota State Patrol officers were directing traffic in the area, which was creeping through the stretch between Highway 241 at St. Michael and the County Road 144 bridge, which is the overpass just after the Crow River Bridge.

The fire was just east of the on-ramp from Highway 241.
