Burger King Thief Has Northwest Metro Police Trying to Land a Whopper

Departments around the area are working together so a suspect tied to the armed robberies can no longer have it his way.

Officials from several different Twin Cities metro police departments, including the Wright County Sheriff's Department, are looking for a suspect they believe is involved in several different armed robberies in the area, including a handful of Burger King fast food restaurants.

The Wright County Sheriff's Department said the man, who is of medium build and has been seen on security cameras wearing a black shirt or sweatshirt, dark pants or jeans and a ski mask, started his run of thefts with a Burger King in Annandale on Sept. 19.

They also believe the suspect is tied to a robbery of the Monticello Burger King on the same day, and then a Monticello Game Stop store on the evening of Oct. 5.

Now, Maple Grove Police are seeking a suspect matching the same description after a man walked employees at the Burger King there into a freezer and locked them inside while he robbed the store on Weaver Lake Road Wednesday, Oct. 16. Surveillance there showed the man drove a dark-colored Dodge Durango, most likely black, and a later model, possibly 2005, according to a WCCO report

Here's the statement from Maple Grove PD:

On October 16, 2013 at 6:12 am, the Maple Grove Police Department responded to the Burger King at 13840 Grove Dr N on a report of an armed robbery. Employees reported that they were approached while opening the store by a white male with a semi-automatic handgun wearing a gray zip up jacket, black ski mask, and gloves. The suspect demanded money and ordered the employees into the cooler. The suspect left the business in a dark in color, possibly a Dodge Durango with an undetermined amount of cash.

People with any information about the suspect in the St. Michael-Albertville area should contact the Wright County Sheriff's Department at 763-682-1162. In Maple Grove area contact Captain Keith Terlinden at 763-494-6172.
