Close Call: Crews in Albertville Hit Gas Main on Lannon Avenue

The strike forced residents from their homes as gas spewed from the broken line.

The Albertville Fire Department was forced to evacuate some Lannon Avenue residents from their home after a road construction crew struck a gas main just south of 51st Avenue Northeast.

The incident happened at around 12:30 p.m.

Center Point Energy responded quickly to the scene and turned off the gas. Neighbors were back in their respective homes before 2 p.m.

Crews are working to repair a storm sewer in the area.
