UPDATE: One Dead in Two Vehicle Accident in St. Michael

One person has died and two others are seriously injured after a crash near the St. Michael border with Otsego. Names will be released Friday morning by the Minnesota State Patrol.

UPDATE (9:20 p.m., Thursday, April 26): The Minnesota State Patrol has released some information on the Thursday afternoon crash that killed one person and sent others to the hospital.

According to the state patrol's report, a black Mercedes SUV was merging on to Highway 101 at the County Road 36 interchange, headed north.

The driver of the Mercedes sped up at the end of the ramp to try and avoid a northbound Ford Taurus, but was too late. The driver of the Ford slammed on the breaks and swerved to the left lane to avoid an accident, but lost control. The back end of the Taurus swung around and clipped the Mercedes, sending both vehicles into the east ditch of northbound 101.

Both vehicles rolled.

The names of all involved will be released at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Friday), Eric Roeske, public information officer for the state patrol, said.

One person has been pronounced dead on arrival and two others have been seriously injured after an accident at the intersection of Wright County Highway 36 and Minnesota Highway 101, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Traffic was being re-routed as crews assisted at the scene. Elk River Fire and Rescue was called to assist with Rogers Fire Department. Lifeflight had been called in for at least one of the accident victims.

The accident occurred around 3:15 p.m Thursday, April 26.

Lt. Eric Roeske of the State Patrol said two vehicles were involved and details were starting to come to light. A full report would be filed when information was available.

The name of the deceased victim is pending as authorities notify family.
