UPDATE: Suspect in Custody after issuing Teacher Threat Tuesday

The St. Michael-Albertville School District and Wright County Sheriff's Department worked together to bring a suspect into custody after a threat against a teacher at a local school.

UPDATE: (3:29 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7) According to the Wright County Sheriff's Department, a 22-year-old Alexandria, MN, woman was arrested for the threats.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office has arrested Ariel Stephanie Rose Koenig, 22, of Alexandria for terroristic threats, in connection with the threats made to a staff member at the St Michael Middle School East.

UPDATE (3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7) The St. Michael-Albertville School District announced this afternoon that a suspect has been brought into custody for issuing a threat against a teacher at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School.

According to a statement issued by schools superintendent Dr. Jim Behle:

"The suspect is not a current student or resident of the STMA School District.  Both STMA School Staff and Wright County Sheriff’s office extend appreciation for the support and cooperation of students, families and staff displayed throughout the investigation."

The students and staff at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School East were on high alert Tuesday morning after a threat was discovered against a teacher in the school building.

According to information disseminated by the St. Michael-Albertville School District, the threat was discovered prior to the start of school this morning.

St. Michael-Albertville Middle School East Principal Jennie Kelly sent an e-mail through the district’s key communicator program Monday, detailing precautions taken at the school building.

“The district is working with Wright County Law Enforcement on routine security procedures to ensure a safe and secure school for students and staff. Bus Parking Lot Doors will be locked this morning and all students will enter the building through the main entrance.

“The building has been secured. The ongoing investigation will include a search of student's belongings upon entering the school building. Threatening communication in any form is not tolerated and will result in serious school and legal consequences. Wright County Sheriff's Office will continue to work collaboratively with school administration and be present in the building throughout the day to ensure the safety of students. We appreciate your ongoing efforts to keep our school safe.”

The issues is still under investigation by both Wright County and the school district.

Due to the nature of the investigation, not much information is being released.

St. Michael Patch is awaiting comment from the Wright County Sheriff’s Department on the investigation into the threats.
