Electrical Storm Sparks Calls to St. Michael Fire Department

A May 24 storm left one person injured and caused a transformer fire, both prompting calls to the St. Michael Fire Department. That and more in this week's blotter.

A powerful thunderstorm that rolled through the St. Michael area May 24 prompted two calls to the St. Michael Fire Department, including one resident who was injured while talking on the phone. 

The fire department also spent more than an hour on the scene of an arcing transformer, caused by a lightning strike. 

May 22
Christopher DeJon Ellis, 22, of Albertville was arrested in Anoka County on a Wright County warrant for 2nd degree burglary.

May 23
Jabier Rakeem Livingston, 19, of Minneapolis was arrested in Albertville on the charge of theft.

Jawaanza Osayande Kiambu Jones, 18, was arrested in Albertville on charges of theft and give false information to a police officer.

May 24
The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a fire call in the 10000th block of 30th Street NE.  There was a transformer arching.

The SMFD responded to a medical call in the 4000 block of Jason Avenue NE.  The homeowner was possibly hit by lightening while on the phone.

The SMFD responded to a medical call in the 400 block of Iris Lane NE.  There was a male having chest pains.

May 26
The SMFD responded to a medical call in the 100 block of Welter Circle Se.  There was a female having difficulty breathing.

May 27
Dustin James Merges, 24, of Otsego was arrested in Monticello on the charge of 3rd degree DWI.

May 28
The SMFD responded to a fire alarm call in the 11000 block of Frankfort Parkway NE.  They were cancelled en-route.

Brandon Lee Dick, 26, of St. Michael was arrested in Buffalo on the charges of domestic assault and criminal damage to property.

May 29
The SMFD responded to a fire call in the 4000 block of La Beaux Avenue NE for mutual aid with the Albertville Fire Department.

Wright County Deputies reported nine property damage accidents, two personal injury accidents and five Hit-and-Run accidents. There were 16 arrests for DWI, thre underage consumption arrests, a school bus stop arm violations, and 35 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.
