Elk River Cell Phone Shop Robbed at Gunpoint

Elk River Police attempted to track down a man after an employee at the T-Mobile store told dispatchers he was held up around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Elk River Police and Minnesota State Patrol teamed up to try and track down a man suspected of robbing the Elk River T-Mobile store, in the 18000 block of Zane Avenue, around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.

According to police scanner reports, the man they’re looking for is an African American of medium build, has scruff on his face and glasses, and was last seen wearing a camouflage winter coat, black hat, black pants and red tennis shoes.

The employee of the store told Elk River investigators the man left on foot, but might have had a car parked somewhere else in the retail area.

Elk River Police scanned the nearby Walmart parking lot, looking for the suspect, and also secured video from the store. The suspect used two Walmart bags to grab several phones and a small amount of cash from the T-Mobile store.

A K-9 unit was called, and some evidence was found at the scene.
