Fire Guts Trailer at St. Michael's Omann BrothersTuesday Afternoon

St. Michael and Albertville Fire Departments were called to a fire Tuesday afternoon at Omann Bros. No injuries were reported.

A fire Tuesday afternoon destroyed a trailer on the Omann Brothers plant property in St. Michael.

Tuesday's fire could be seen throughout the community with smoke leaving a haze like substance in parts of Albertville.

The fire started in a trailer at in St. Michael. The trailer had previously been used for storing oils needed for blacktop, but was to be scrapped. As it was being cut apart, the structure started to burn.

"The residue from the oil was still in the trailer, causing the fire," St. Michael Fire Chief Steve Hosch said this morning.

Both fire crews from Albertville and St. Michael responded to the fire and were able to get it under control quickly.

"During the day we can be short people so it's not uncommon for both fire departments to respond," Hosch said.

The fire did not affect any other parts of the plant and did not cause any injuries.
