Four Alarm Fire in Elk River Damages Huge Portion of Apartment Complex

Ladder trucks and crews were braving cold temps and hot conditions in Elk River this morning.

Firefighters from multiple departments were battling a blaze in the 300 block of Evans Avenue this morning.

Mutual aid was requested by Elk River Fire after they arrived on scene shortly after 6 a.m. Departments from Rogers, Big Lake, Zimmerman and beyond were assisting. Fighters were able to gain entry to the building about two hours after first arriving on scene.

St. Michael and Albertville departments, due to the mutual aid contract, were on standby for Rogers and other departments who headed to the scene.

Temperatures were in the single digits at the time of the fire, with wind chill factors well below zero.

The Red Cross is on hand to assist residents. Initial reports show all were evacuated safely. Some apartment residencies were completely engulfed in flames with fire visible from windows and on the roof.
