Grand Jury Hands Down First-Degree Murder Charges in Albertville Teacher's Death

Timothy and Delbert Huber of rural Paynesville will now face premeditated murder charges in Kandyohi County for the Oct. 8 shooting of St. Michael-Albertville teacher Timothy Larson.

A grand jury in Kandiyohi County has issued an indictment charging 81-year-old Delbert Huber and his son, Timothy Huber, 45, with first-degree, premeditated murder in the shooting death of Timothy Larson, 43, of Albertville, last month.

Larson was a special education teacher at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West.  

Both Huber men made an appearance in Kandiyohi County court before Judge Donald M. Spilseth on Thursday morning, according to a report in the West Central Tribune, based in Willmar, MN.

The new charges mean both Huber men could be sentenced to life in prison, if convicted, for their alleged role in the murder. 

Delbert Huber remains in prison on $3 million bail. Timothy Huber's bail has been set at $1 million.

Delbert Huber now faces the charge of first-degree murder, along with two counts of second-degree murder, the Tribune states, according to court records. One charge is for intentional murder, the other for unintentional. 

Timothy Huber has made one appearance on the same charges, but is being tried under the liability for crimes of another according to Minnesota law. 

According to arrest records, Delbert Huber is suspected of shooting Larson in the chest with a British Enfield rifle during an argument on Larson's father's farm Saturday, Oct. 8. 

Delbert Huber called 911 Saturday evening, telling authorities he had killed a man. He was arrested without incident.
