Lightning Strike, DWI Arrests Lead Another Busy Week in St. Michael, Albertville

The May 30 lightning strike in The Preserve, along with a handful of drunken driving arrests, closed out a pretty hectic month of May for local police and fire crews.

The holiday weekend lightning strike that displaced a St. Michael family leads a list of calls to local fire and law enforcement over the final days of May. 

Three DWIs were handed out in five days, including a pair in Albertville, as Wright County deputies stepped up patrols going into the unofficial start of summer.

Patrick Steven Jackson, 38, was arrested in Stearns County on a Wright County warrant for finanical transaction card fraud.

Trent William Macdonald, 41, St. Michael, was arrested in Albertville on the charge of third degree DWI. 

May 26

A 40-year-old Albertville man was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for possession of child pornography.

St. Michael Rescue responded to a medical call in the 4000 block of Medly Lane. A female was having a possible heart attack.  

May 28

Eric John Maurus, 29, Hanover, was arrested in Rockford on charges of fifth degree assault and disorderly conduct. 

Amber Lynn Zoellmer, 30, Albertville, was arrested in Albertville on charge of third degree DWI. 

Chad Richard Kirchner, 33, St. Michael, was arrested in St. Michael on charge of third degree DWI. 

The St. Michael Fire responded to a search and rescue call in the Crow River at the Lower Recreation Park. 

May 30

The St. Michael Fire Department and Wright County deputies responded to a fire call in the 13000 block of 48th Street Northeast after a home was hit by lightning, starting an attic fire. 

SMFD responded to a medical call in the 2000 blockk of Langston Lane. A woman was having a possible stroke. 

May 31

St. Michael Fire responded to an accident call at the intersection of County Road 35 and Kahl Avenue, but was canceled en route. 

Wright County Sheriff's deputies also reported 12 property damage accident, three personal injury accidents, two hit-and-run accidents and one car vs. deer accident. There were 15 arrests for DWI countywide, seven underage consumption arrests and 143 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations.
