Mother’s Day Grass Fire Remains Under Investigation in St. Michael

There were no injuries in the incident.

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a grass/swamp fire south of 34th Street/Carissa Lane around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, according to Fire Chief Steve Hosch.

“On arrival the department found an area around the pond to be on fire. With the wind direction and the open water of the ponds and yards the fire could not spread,” Hosch wrote in an email to Patch. “The department quickly extinguished the fire, no homes were damaged or in danger.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Hosch.
