Five Injured in I-94 Westbound Accident Thursday Near Rogers

Traffic impacted eastbound and westbound travelers on I-94 for about three hours when portions of the road were closed Thursday, June 27, 2013.

The accident near Brockton Lane North is blocking three lanes of traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

An accident Thursday morning around 10:07 a.m. on westbound I-94 near Maple Grove and Rogers at Brockton Lane is blocking three lanes of traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The Maple Grove Police Department, Dayton Police Department and Hennepin County Sheriff’s office are among those law enforcement personal on the scene, according the Police Clips Facebook page

Updated 2:38 p.m. June 27: Lt. Eric Roeske with the Minnesota State Patrol told Patch in an email three vehicles were involved in the accident. 

"Initially five injuries were reported and air care was called for two of the injured," Roeske said.

The driver of a Dodge van lost control, went over to the shoulder then over corrected after a tire "blew out," according to the Minnesota State Patrol Incident Report. The driver of the van then "over corrected" and struck a a Sterling truck.

A Honda motorcycle was struck from debris from the Dodge van and crashed, according to Minnesota State Patrol Incident Report.

The driver of the motorcycle received non-life threatening injuries. The driver and two passengers in the van received non-life threatening injures, according to Minnesota State Patrol Incident Report. A passenger in the truck also received non-life threatening injuries. 

Timeline of the events following the accident are included below. 

Updated 10:47 a.m. June 27: "I-94 westbound: Road closed to traffic. At I-494 (Maple Grove). The road is closed to traffic. Look out for a serious accident," according to MnDOT.

Update 11 a.m. June 27: Preliminary information from the Minnesota State Patrol indicated five people were injured, two transported by air to the hospital. 

Updated 11:32 a.m. June 27: According to initial information provided by the Minnesota State Patrol, it appears the accident involved two vehicles. "Expect full road closure an undetermined amount of time. WB 94 will be closed at 494 shortly," Minnesota State Patrol updated at 11:14 a.m. Rogers Police is assisting.
