A garage fire spread into insulation on a St. Michael home, prompting calls to four different fire departments Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from St. Michael, Albertville, Hanover and Monticello fought to save the home of Mark and Lori Johnson of St. Michael, who have lived in the home at the intersection of Mayfield Avenue and Frankfort Parkway for seven years, according to county records.

Crews removed siding and shingles as they fought to keep flames contained in the garage area. Smoke billowed out over Frankfort Parkway as deputies from Wright County Sheriff's Department shut down the westbound lane of the road.
