St. MIchael Man Charged with Armed Robbery of St. Louis Park Woman

Martez Romale Turner of St. Michael is charged with first-degree armed robbery in the Dec. 7 incident.

A St. Michael man has been charged with first-degree armed robbery after police say he and two other men broke into a St. Louis Park apartment in December, ordered the occupant and her daughter into a bathroom at gunpoint and then stole items from the home.

Martez Romale Turner, 25, faces a felony charge of aggravated first-degree robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.

Turner remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He was also being sought on outstanding warrants from Minneapolis, St. Louis Park and Ramsey County.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by St. Louis Park Police Officer Aaron Balvin, police were called to an apartment in the 2500 block of Highway 100 just after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 on a report of a robbery.

The victim told police that she and her daughter were home when three men, including Turner—whom she recognized—burst into the apartment. She said Turner was waving a handgun and ordered the victim and her daughter into the bathroom.

When the victim determined that the men had left, she emerged from the bathroom and discovered that the suspects had stolen a number of items, including electronic equipment, according to the complaint.

The victim identified Turner as having tattoos on his face, one in the form of a teardrop and another with the initials “MCH.”

Police tracked down Turner on Jan. 25. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Hennepin County District Court.
