UPDATE: Burn Victim in Hassan Township Fire Recovering at HCMC

The name of the 19-year-old man killed in the blaze has not been released.

Authorities from Hennepin County Medical Center said the 46-year-old burn victim who suffered injuries in Saturday's house fire in Hassan Township is doing well, but will need time to heal. 

The woman, identified as Pamela Ann Adams, 46, suffered third-degree burns and lacerations, but has been moved to satisfactory condition. She was injured when a massive fire broke out at the home around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, May 21, about the same time a severe thunderstorm and tornado activity was moving through the area. 

A 19-year-old man, the only other resident of the house that was home at the time, was killed in the fire at at 24355 141st Avenue Northeast.

Rogers Fire Chief Brad Feist to the Elk River Star News the house was fully engulfed when fire crews responded to the 911 call. The emergency call was placed by a neighbor. 

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the initial emergency call, which came in the middle of a severe thunderstorm Saturday night, the same system that dropped a tornado onMedina, about 15 miles south of Hassan Township.

Rogers Fire called in for mutual aid from Dayton Fire and Rescue and St. Michael Fire Department immediately. Albertville Fire was called in around 8 p.m., about an hour later.

Feist said the State Fire Marshal is leading the investigation of the blaze. No cause has been determined. It is also not known if the severe weather at the time of the fire might have played a factor.
