Winter Storm Warning Issued for Wright County

The National Weather Service issued the warning, effective 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

Updated 7 a.m. April 10 - The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has the winter storm warning in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11 with snowfall totals of eight to 12 inches possible. The heaviest snow is expected late Wednesday through early Thursday morning.

April 9 - The Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service on Tuesday declared a winter storm warning for much of west central and central Minnesota, including Wright and Hennepin counties.

A winter storm warning means “significant amounts of snow, sleet are ice are expected or occuring.” The warning is in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday

Some parts of the west central Minnesota could see six to 12 inches of snow fall between Tuesday morning and Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

In the west metro, the forecast calls for rain until Tuesday night, when ice will start accumulating. One to two inches of snow is expected to fall during the day Wednesday, and there could be two to four more inches of snow during the night. Snow is likely Thursday, too.
