YOUR PHOTOS: St. Michael Family Loses Garage to Fire

An investigation into the morning fire is ongoing.

Several Patch users this week submitted photos of the garage fire on Mayfield Avenue and Frankfort Parkway, the home of Mark and Lori Johnson.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze in about three hours and keep damage confined to the garage structure, said Fire Chief Steve Hosch. An investigation into how the fire started and what made it spread is ongoing.

According to records initial calls came into Wright County Dispatch around 7:30 a.m. Mark and Lori were able to get the family out of the house. Hosch arrived shortly after the initial page, and flames were not present, he said. But the fire spread quickly, and firefighting was difficult due to the extreme cold.

Four departments, including St. Michael, Albertville, Hanover and Monticello, responded to the fire. Allina Ambulance and Wright County were also on scene to assist with firefighter safety and traffic control, respectively.
