As Caucus Night Approaches, Tom Emmer Releases First Campaign Ad

The former Wright County legislator continues to be the frontrunner, in terms of cash and exposure, to replace Rep. Michele Bachmann in the Sixth District.

Former Wright County legislator and gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, a Republican from Delano, is "all-in" on his bid for the Sixth District Congressional Seat, up for election this November.

You can check out the video, which features Emmer's conservative message, here.

"I promise," he quips, "it's a lot easier than signing up for Obamacare."

The frontrunner to replace Rep. Michele Bachmann released his first campaign advertisement, officially, today, just two weeks ahead of the Republican Caucus, which is set for the first Tuesday in February.

Caucus nights will happen in voting precincts around the state on Feb. 4. Though the endorsements from caucus night don't have a bearing on the actual election outcome, they do influence both parties heading into annual pre-election conventions.

Emmer served as a Representative in the Minnesota State Legislature, with a constituency that included St. Michael, Albertville and the rest of eastern Wright County, from 2004 to 2009. He was defeated by Gov. Mark Dayton in the 2010 election.

Emmer served as a conservative talk show host from 2010 to 2013, when he announced his intent to run for Bachmann's seat, after she announced her intent to retire from Congress last year.

Emmer is squaring off against former Taxpayers League president Phil Krinkie and former Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah on the GOP side. The Democrat-Farm-Labor party has not named a candidate to challenge the Republicans in this heavily conservative district.
