Michele Bachmann Fundraising Appeal: Democrats Are Trying to Defeat Me
The Smart Politics blog at the University of Minnesota asks, 'How Much Money Will Bachmann Raise as a Non-Candidate?'
U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is raising money at her campaign website by saying Democrats are trying to defeat her—despite her recent announcement that she would not seek re-election in 2014, the Smart Politics blog at the University of Minnesota points out:
Help Support Michele!
Obama and the Democrats are targeting Michele for speaking out against their extreme liberal agenda. They will do, say and spend whatever it takes to defeat her.

'Different Perch'
Bachmann gave her first interview since she (and DFL challenger Jim Graves) left the 2014 race on Fox News' Hannity show:
One idea: Bachmann should lead the IRS.I'm not retiring, I'm not going silent, I'm not quitting my public involvement. In fact I may run for another public office. That could happen. But for right now I think I'm going to find a different perch in order to be able to weigh in on these matters. Sometimes you can be more effective on the outside than on the inside. I've done everything I possible could on the inside. But I still intend to be in on the fight.
2014 Race
The past week has seen several developments in the race to replace Bachmann in 2014:
- Former state representative and GOP candidate for governor Tom Emmer announced he is running.
- Former state Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, also a Republican, said she is not running.
- Judy Adams of Circle Pines announced she is joining the race as a DFLer.
Bachmann was in Anoka Monday for the funeral of Arnold and Lila Spike, parents of the director of her Minnesota office, Deb Steiskal, according to MinnPost. (They died in early June from injuries resulting from a car accident.)
