City Engineer to Present I-94 Interchange Update at Albertville Meeting

For the first time this year, the new Albertville City Council will discuss the game-changing design.

New Albertville Mayor Mark Meehan and the Albertville City Council will discuss the biggest project on tap for the city at tonight's meeting.

The Albertville City Engineer Adam Nafstad will present an update on the I-94 Ramp project at tonight’s council meeting. He will also present a feasibility study on the project to be accepted by the council.

It's the first action item on the project in 2011. The idea has been in the works since 2008.

The City of Albertville has a $5.6 million grant to be used on this project at County Road 19 to modify the County Road 37 interchange by December of 2012. Early estimates of the project showed the cost be in the $11 million range and it is unclear at this time how the difference will be funded.

In addition to the interchange, discussion on the city joining the National Flood Insurance Program is expected tonight, though not noted on the agenda.
