I-94 Coalition Celebrating 2014 Expansion with Kickoff Event

The group that has lobbied and pressed for expansion of the Interstate 94 corridor west of Rogers will mark its November victory with a small breakfast and presentation next week.

Victory will taste even sweeter with some cake and ice cream.

Or at least doughnuts and coffee.

The Interstate 94 Coalition–a joint group of lobbyists, government leaders and local businesses–will celebrate the planned expansion of Interstate 94 with a special kickoff event, set for Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Rogers Community Center. The morning begins at 9.

The I-94 West Chamber of Commerce and the I-94 West Corridor Coalition has invited special guests Charles A. Zelle, Commissioner of Transportation, Dan Anderson, District Engineer, Program Delivery for MnDOT District 3, and Terry Humbert, Assistant District Engineer, Program Delivery for MnDOT District 3 to the event.

Gov. Mark Dayton recently announced that lane expansion between Rogers and St. Michael will be included in the Corridors of Commerce transportation improvement program. Construction on the additional lanes, which will cost about $33 million to complete, will begin early in 2014.

A small program will be presented, featuring Transportation Commissioner Zelle and a presentation on preliminary plans for the Highway 101 to Highway 241 capacity expansion project.

There is no cost to attend, but the Coalition would appreciate an RSVP no later than Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Call the I-94 West Chamber office at 763-428-2921.
