Joint Powers Water Tower to Remain "Blank", No Logo

The Jo met Tuesday afternoon to discuss various options for the water tower was questioned at both Albertville and St. Michael city council meetings in recent weeks.

Four proposals were presented to the board of what should be painted on the West water tower.

Option 1 would read "Joint Powers Water Albertville-Hanover-St. Michael" for $19,400 total cost. Option 2 would read "St. Michael-Albertville Home of the Knights" for $13,000 total cost. Option 3 would read "Joint Powers Water System Albertville-Hanover-St. Michael" with a water drop for $19,800 total cost. Option 4 would be no logo and leaving the water tower blank for a total cost of $0.

"We recognize that for 35 years we've worked together providing water to all three communities," Martin Waters, mayor of Hanover and chair of the Joint Powers Water Board said citing the long term relationship all three communities have.

"A water tower is our identification," St. Michael Mayor Jerry Zachman said. "I don't want to confuse our residents and I don't see three towns on one water tower," he added.

The water tower itself is owned by all three entities but is in St. Michael and located especially close to .

After some discussion on possibly adding a logo at a future date, the board voted and a motion was carried to leave the water tower blank. The vote was 5 to 1, with Dan Wagner from Albertville City Council sitting in for Mayor Mark Meehan voting no.
