Sixth District Review: Michele Bachmann Marks Birthday, Mourns 'Iron Lady'

Margaret Thatcher was a role model for the Minnesota congresswoman.

It had to have been an up-and-down few days for U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)—first her own birthday on April 6, then word of Margaret Thatcher's death two days later.

Another echo from Bachmann's presidential campaign this week came in the form of questions about a congressional ethics investigation into campaign funds.

At a press conference in St. Paul Tuesday with state Sen. Sean Nienow (R-Cambridge) to talk about auditing Medicaid, reporters asked Bachmann about allegations of campaign-finance impropriety and her aides ended the event. "I'm thoroughly convinced that I'll be cleared," she told MPR News.

A happier time for Bachmann in front of cameras was her speech on the floor of the House of Representatives (see video above or at YouTube.com), when she congratulated the St. Cloud State University men's hockey team on reaching the Frozen Four national championship tournament.
