Snapshot: Albertville Public Works Braves Arctic Cold During Repair

A crew was called into action after a water main break in the heart of town.

While so many of us were warm and indoors, the Albertville Public Works Department crew was braving the elements outdoors after a water main broke on Main Street near 57th Avenue Northeast Monday, Jan. 6. 

Crews dug up the frozen ground and made a repair on the main, which was spreading water down the city's oldest street. The water froze almost instantly, making for rough, slippery driving near the 57th and Main intersection. 

At the time of this photo, the temperature was about 14 below zero with winds of 10 to 12 mph, making it "feel" like nearly 35 below. 

A more permanent road repair will be made when temps are above freezing.
