The former state rep and gubernatorial candidate said he would abide by the Republican Party endorsement.
A week after U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann announced via YouTube she would not seek re-election in 2014, former state representative and 2010 gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer told a press conference he will run to fill her seat.

Former state Sen. Amy Koch, the Buffalo Republican who represented the old Senate District 19 (before redistricting) and served as Senate Majority Leader, announced Tuesday she is not in the race.
Two days after Bachmann left the race her DFL challenger, Jim Graves, also suspended his campaign.
Bachmann represents Minnesota's Sixth District, which includes St. Michael-Albertviille.
