Tonight's council meetings: Albertville talks about new city administrator, both cities to discuss 2013 budgets

St. Michael and Albertville will each hold a council meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at their respective city halls. Albertville hopes to move closer to the hiring of their new city administrator during the meeting; both cities will discuss next year's budget.

After voting to terminate their contract with former city administrator four months ago, the city of is still in process of hiring a new administrator. The city council voted 3-2 in July to hire search firm Springsted, Inc. to do the legwork to find a new administrator, and Springsted representatives will be at the city’s special council meeting tonight to discuss the city administrator profile and job description with council. Springsted has developed two different job descriptions for the position, one as a stand-alone city administrator and the second as a combination city administrator/city engineer public works director, for the council to choose from.

The Albertville meeting will also include a budget discussion for 2013. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Albertville city hall.

In , the council will meet at 7 p.m. for a regular meeting, highlighted by the setting of the 2013 preliminary tax levy and budget. The preliminary levy proposal calls for a 2.99 percent increase to the levy. This includes a $4,400,000 general fund budget and a total levy of $5,196,344.
