Week in Review: Wrestling, Real Estate and the FYCC

The week of Feb. 28 featured a variety of stories from in an around the STMA community. Have a quick read and let us know your favorite story from the week that was.

1.

STMA senior Parker Betts was the only Knight to win his match in the 61-6 loss to Apple Valley, the no.1-ranked team in the nation. Betts' match was the final match of the night and saved the Knights from being shutout. STMA scored lopsided victories over Centennial High School and Albert Lea High School to earn its place in the final dual.

After sending six wrestlers to championship Saturday, Tommy Thorn, the third of three brothers to wrestle for a state title, was the only Knight to win a title. Cole Sladek (112 pounds) and Shawn Little (189 pounds) both wrestled in the final match but came up short against wrestlers from Apple Valley and Willmar, respectively.

Patch writer Lisa Peterson catches up with Matt Hilden, the latest of three scouts in Albertville Troop 547, to earn the honor of Eagle Scout. Respected by family and friends throughout the community, Hilden joins just one-half of the US population that can boast an Eagle badge. Moreover, Minnesota Senate Majority leader Amy Koch officially congratulated Matt on his achievement.
