What Else Michele Bachmann Did Last Week

She didn't only announce she won't run for re-election in 2014.

Yes, she told the world via YouTube in the wee hours last Wednesday that her congressional career would end in 2014

But there were a few other things that U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) did in the past week that didn't get as much attention.

St. Croix Bridge
Bachmann wielded a shovel at the official groundbreaking for the new St. Croix River bridge she pushed through Congress, her congressional website noted in a press release:

“After decades of delays and holdups, the St. Croix River Crossing is finally becoming a reality. This is a major victory for both Minnesota and Wisconsin, and it was an honor to take part in today’s groundbreaking ceremony,” said Bachmann. “I cannot wait until this bridge is open for use, increasing safety and bringing jobs and economic growth to our state. Thank you to Senator Klobuchar, Governor Dayton, Governor Walker and so many others who worked tirelessly and saw this important project through to the end. It was truly a bipartisan team effort.”
Memorial Day
Bachmann participated in Memorial Day observances in St. Cloud and Sartell.

Cybersecurity
Bachmann hosted a seminar on cybersecurity in St. Cloud, her congressional website reported in a press release

“The first step towards combating the growing threat of cyber crime is bringing the community together and raising awareness,” said Bachmann. “Technology is so integral to our daily lives and the purpose of this seminar was to inform the public about what they can do to protect themselves and their business in this digital age we live in.”

Romance Novel
The world was already reeling from the news that Bachmann would leave Congress when a romance novel based on Bachmann debuted as an e-book available online: Fires of Siberia by Tréy Sager, published by Badlands Unlimited.

Graves Leaves Too
Like the book, it wasn't really something Bachmann did (or maybe it was): Jim Graves, Bachmann's DFL challenger, dropped out of the 2014 race a few days after she did.
