Wright County Republicans File for State Seats

In an act of solidarity, the Republican candidates for Minnesota House and Senate Districts that will represent Wright County have filed together for state office. The filing period is open through June 5.

The nine Republican endorsed Minnesota House and Senate candidates whose districts lie partially or fully in Wright County have now all filed to run for office.

Bruce Anderson (SD29) of Buffalo who has served in the Minnesota House for 18 years is now stepping up to run for the open senate seat.  As a 22-year veteran, he chairs the House Veterans Committee. Anderson says, “The 2012 election season is an exciting opportunity to meet new constituents from across Wright County.”

Marion O’Neill (HD29B) of Buffalo is running for the open seat vacated by Anderson.  She is a business owner and works at the MN Senate.  She has been an active volunteer at the Wright County Jail, One Way Youth Group, Buffalo Food Shelf and in her church.

Joe McDonald (HD29A) of Delano is running for his second term and owns and operates a photography studio. McDonald says, "If re-elected, I will continue  working to reduce wasteful spending and shrinking the size and scope of our state government."

Mary Kiffmeyer (SD30) of Big Lake who severed eight years as Secretary of State and two terms in the MN House is now running for the open Senate seat. Kiffmeyer says, "I look forward to serving my district and working on equity in education, transportation and pro-job growth policies."

David FitzSimmons (HD30B) of Albertville, a small business owner running in the open seat says, “I look forward to serving with a great group of legislators who will be representing Wright County.”

Dave Brown (SD15) of Becker running for his second term gained Clearwater and Clearwater Township in redistricting, says, “I will continue to support our constitutional freedoms and liberties while serving in the Minnesota Senate.”

Jim Newberger (HD15B) who has lived in Becker for 14 years with his wife and three daughters works full time as a paramedic.   He serves in church leadership and on the Becker City Planning Commission.

Scott Newman (SD18) of Hutchinson who is running for his second term was almost redistricted out of Wright County, but if re-elected would serve Cokato and Cokato Township.

Dean Urdahl (HD18A) of Grove City is running for his sixth term and currently serves as the Chair of the House Legacy Committee. Urdahl says, “It has been an honor to serve Wright County, and I will work to keep government from stifling progress and freedom.”
