Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Have some fun this weekend - celebrate Read Across America Day and the birthday of Dr. Seuss!

We love to celebrate birthdays around our house.  In addition to family birthdays, we celebrate the birthdays of Harry Potter, Dr. Seuss, and all four Beatles.

March 2 is the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the inspiration behind Read Across America Day on March 1.  Events to celebrate and encourage reading are held across the country during this time, many with a Dr. Seuss theme.

And who doesn't love Dr. Seuss?

Throwing a birthday party for Dr. Seuss with your kids can be as simple or as complicated as you like - just make it fun and read a ton!

I take inspiration from the Dr. Seuss books to create entire meals and desserts.  We read our favorite stories out loud and watch the classic cartoon versions of The Sneetches and The Cat in the Hat.

Pinterest is full of creative and clever Dr. Seuss ideas. You can also find yummy recipes in the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook.  And if you've never visited Seussville, you must go there immediately - play games, download activities, watch video clips, and create your own Who.  Go for it and have fun!

Check out a few snapshots from previous Dr. Seuss birthday celebrations at our house.

And remember,"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
