Saturday Events Set to Remember Lost St. Michael-Albertville Teacher

Saturday's "Fire Up" 5K and a spaghetti dinner will bring the community together to remember Tim Larson, and to show support for his family.

The family and friends of late middle school teacher Tim Larson are read to roll tomorrow, making Saturday, Nov. 12 the “unofficial” Tim Larson Day in this city.

The day will start with, which will take off from the St. Michael-Albertville football stadium and track, which is on the campus of Middle School West, at 9 a.m.

Registrations are still being accepted for the run/walk, which starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Runners can sign up in the school building Saturday morning, leading up to the race.

Those who have registered ahead of time should check in at the cafeteria, as well.

The 5K trek will follow the same route as the Albertville Friendly City Days 5K. No awards will be given.

Then, Saturday night, the will host a spaghetti feed and silent auction for the Larson family, including Larson’s wife, Deb, and the couple’s two young sons.

The money raised will be placed into a memorial fund for the boys.

Cost to attend the supper/silent auction is $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Kids under 10 pay their age (example: 5-year-olds pay $5).

Tickets are available at , Coborns, St. Michael Catholic Church and Alleluia! Lutheran Church.

A complete list of the auction items has been attached to this story, but some highlights include:

-       An autographed, authentic Adrian Peterson jersey.

-       A hockey puck signed by Gophers (No. 1 team in the country right now) coach Don Lucia.

-       Minnesota Wild game tickets

-       Minnesota Vikings game tickets.

-       Services from Berning’s Auto.

-       A two night stay at a local hotel.

Checks can also be made out to the Tim Larson Memorial Fund and dropped off at those locations, or the Wells Fargo branch inside the Marketplace store.

Larson, who was an EBD Special Education teacher at the middle school,  on his father’s property east of Willmar, Minn.

Two men from Kandiyohi County have been arrested and charged with the crime.
