Updated: Accident in Albertville Involves School Bus Wednesday Morning

With the exception of the driver, no other individuals were reportedly on the bus when the accident happened near 50th and Labeaux Avenue.

A school bus and vehicle were involved an accident early Wednesday morning in Albertville.

The incident was reported around 7:30 a.m. May 15 to dispatch, according to Wright County Sheriff's Office Capt. Greg Howell.

Initial reports indicated the accident occurred near 50th and Labeaux Avenue in Albertville and involved a school bus with no passengers and a passenger vehicle, Howell told Patch. No injuries were reported.

St. Michael-Albertville Schools Superintendent James Behle confirmed no students were on the bus at the time of the accident.

A representative of Don’s Bus Service told St. Michael Patch a car turned in front of the unoccupied bus. The bus was still drivable, with “barely any scratches,” he told Patch.

The additional information was provided by the Wright County Sheriff's Office:

At 7:40  a.m. May 15 the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to a non injury traffic accident at LeBeaux Ave and 50th Street in the City of Albertville.

A 34-year-old Albertville man was driving a 2002 Nissan when it collided with a 2002 school bus being driven by a 59-year-old Otsego man.  

The driver of the Nissan was eastbound on 50th Street turning northbound onto LaBeaux Ave. The bus driver was westbound on 50th St crossing LaBeaux Ave. As the driver of the Nissan was turning northbound, he realized the bus driver was continuing westbound. Both drivers turned in opposite direction to avoid the collision. Both vehicles suffered left front and left side damage.

 

Both drivers advised no injuries.

 

NO students on bus at time of accident.
