St. Michael-Albertville, Buffalo Speech Team Hosting Comedy Fundraiser Tonight

The community can help St. Michael-Albertville's speech standouts as they make their way to Indianapolis next month. Plus, the evening's always worth a good laugh.

The St. Buffaville High School speech team will be hosting  their second annual night of comedyand improv humor at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at the Performing Arts Center. The event is free with all donations going to support the team and the upcoming June trip to the national speech tournament in Indianapolis. The public is invited. 

Come enjoy family-friendly laughs starring the top comedy performers on the speech team from this past season, along with the always hilarious on the spot improv comedy skits and other surprise performances.

"Improvisational comedy is one of my favorite forms of humor," said head coach Mike Frickstad."You never know where its going until you get there."

This year the speech team was bigger and better than ever, with more than 50 students from STMA and Buffalo competing in speech, student congress, and debate in the season running from October through April and finding success at regional and state competition.

Qualifing for the second year in a row for the National Speech Tournament  this June 10-15 are, both sophomores at St. Michael-Albertville. Goodchild advanced in congressional debate and Rothstein in extemporaneous speaking.

All in the community are invited to come and watch.  All proceeds from a free will offering will go to defray the costs of the upcoming June trip to Indianapolis for the National Forensic League national speech tournament.
