St. Michael-Albertville High Graduates Class of 2012 Tonight

Nearly 300 students join the ranks of alumni after Friday's ceremonies.

Some senior classes–on the days they’re dismissed from school by the administration and staff for an official “senior skip,” or, more politically, correct, “senior appreciation” day–decide to head on a class outing.

For the Class of 2012, perhaps a trip to Valleyfair would be in order, since it’s been one roller coaster of a year.

That ride comes to an emotional end tonight, as nearly 300 seniors will join the ranks of alumni at the annual commencement ceremonies, set for 7:30 p.m.

The event is, as usual, closed to the public at large. Seniors are given a handful of tickets to share with family and friends, filling the gym for the event.

This year’s class has featured nearly 60 honor students, had nearly half of the kids make the A or B honor roll this year at some point, and comprises principal first ever graduating class at the high school as he finishes his first year.

Leading the ceremonies will be senior Elyssa Eull, class president and an honor student.  The daughter of Paul and Stacy Eull, she is headed to Luther College in Iowa in the fall.

The senior speaker will be Kevin Caron, son of Sara and Robert Caron, will head to the U of M this fall where he plans to major in bio-medical engineering. He served as president of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society.
