St. Michael-Albertville Students Earn Courtesy and Respect Awards.

Move over Aretha. These students know all about R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

St. Michael-Albertville High School's third trimester Courtesy and Respect award recipients were honored at Monday evening’s school board meeting.

In order to receive this award, students must be nominated using the following criteria: learns and demonstrates acquired academic knowledge to the best of their ability, demonstrates good judgment when making decisions about themselves and others, demonstrates extra and co-curricular skills to the best of their ability and demonstrates sincere courtesy and respect in their relationships with staff and fellow students.

Superintendent Dr. Marcia Ziegler singled out high school principal Dale Carlson, who is soon to be retired, as the instrumental force in starting this program by setting high expectations for student behavior and creating the Courtesy and Respect awards to rewarding students who meet and exceed these standards. She also commended the parents of these students for the job well done on raising the honored teens.

“We just couldn’t be more proud as a district,” Ziegler said. “I know it is students like you and parents like you that make our district what it is.”

“The reason we give this award is that the qualities for which you are being recognized are important, and they are in somewhat short supply in society in general these days,” board member Jeff Lindquist said. “You are role models for your classmates and that is something the whole district appreciates, so thank you.”
