St. Michael-Albertville Students Outperforming State Average in Reading, Math
Students across the district outperformed their peers on the state's standardized tests.
students outperformed state averages again this year in reading and math, according to the latest results of statewide assement exams released by the Minnesota Department of Education Tuesday morning.
According to the results, St. Michael-Albertville students beat the state average in every grade level except for one–third grade math at Fieldstone Elementary–which missed by less than a point and a half.

High school juniors who were given the MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment) II or III exam crushed the state competition by more than 12 points, with more than 60 percent of the students tested meeting or exceding proficiency (see the chart below).
At St. Michael Elementary, more than 90 percent of third graders passed the MCA II reading assessment, besting the state average by 11.5 points.

Results of the, which is solely used to measure achievement, were released earlier this summer.
The results of the MCA exams reading and math exams are used to determine if a district is making adequate yearly progress under the No Child Left Behind Act.

Percent efficient is combination of those who met proficiency levels or exceeded (two categories) targets on the test.
The St. Michael-Albertville School Board will be shown the official numbers from the tests at its next meeting, set for Monday, Sept. 19.
