St. Michael-Albertville Teachers See Small Increases With New Accord

Teachers in the St. Michael-Albertville School District will receive a slight wage increase under the new contract agreement reached last month.

Education Minnesota of St. Michael-Albertville and the STMA school district have reached agreement on a two-year contract following a Feb. 7 bargaining session with a mediator from the Bureau of Mediation Services, and another bargaining session held Feb. 16, which did not involve a mediator.

The ratification process was completed March 5 by the STMA School Board, following the teacher group ratifying the agreement during the previous week.

The agreement calls for a half-percent cost of living increase for the 2011-12 school year and a .75 percent increase the second year. The agreement keeps the district health insurance contribution the same for the two years of the contract. Employees on the teacher contract will absorb any health insurance cost increases during this two year contract.
