St. Michael-Albertville Teachers Win Education Awards

The STMA teachers were nominated by their school district.

Four teachers from St. Michael-Albertville School District won excellence awards for being leaders in education.

More than 150 educators from the state were given Leaders in Educational Excellence Awards by Resource Training & Solutions.

From STMA, award winners were Charlie Bakker, English teacher at St. Michael-Albertville High School; Jennifer Robinson, second-grade teacher at Fieldstone Elementary School; Debbie Tibbetts, first-grade teacher at Big Woods Elementary School, and Dawn Tyeitbakk, eighth-grade math teacher at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School East.

The 21st annual ceremony took place in St. Cloud in late October. Recipients were awarded a plaque and certificate from Gov. Mark Dayton.

Teachers were nominated by their school districts — there were 41 districts or educational agencies representing public, private, charter or parochial school districts included in the awards.

"Honorees, you may never know all the great things you do — just keep doing good work," said Ken Anderson, board chair for Resource, at the event, according to a Resource information release.

Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius sent a letter to Resource congratulating the honorees.

"I want to congratulate you and all of the educators you are recognizing this year for the important work you are doing and for your strong commitment to the children of Minnesota," she wrote. "It is always a great pleasure for me to acknowledge the exceptional achievements of Minnesota educators."

To date, there have been 3,041 educators in the central Minnesota region who have received this recognition.
