Cool, yet cooperative weather greeted the St. Michael-Albertville athletic squads as the second month of the spring sports season began in earnest this week.
Baseball: Knights Post Back-To-Back Eight-Run Efforts
With wins of 8-3 and 8-1 against Zimmerman and Becker on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, the St. Michael-Albertville baseball team improved to 7-4 overall and 7-3 in Mississippi 8 Conference play.

As a team, the Knights are sporting a .308 batting average as a team, led by Christian Lemke's .421 and Brian Lavallee's .378; Ben Schmitz's 12 runs batted in pace the club, followed by Shawn Morris' 11 RBI, with Garrett Watters scoring a team-high 16 runs.
STMA hosts Buffalo in a conference showdown on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Softball: Knights Win Two To Open Week
The St. Michael-Albertville softball team opened the week with two wins to improve to 6-5 overall and 6-4 in the Mississippi 8.
The Knights topped Zimmerman 7-3 on Monday and then bested Becker 5-1 on Tuesday and now prepare to host conference-leading Buffalo on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Kelsey Blank leads STMA with a .355 batting average, with Rachel Gebo's nine RBI pacing the squad and Nikki Vetsch scoring a team-high seven runs.
Boys Tennis: Knights Now 5-6 On The Season
With a 6-1 defeat of Big Lake on Tuesday, the St. Michael-Albertville boys tennis team improved to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in Mississippi 8 play.
No. 1 singles player Tyler Shustarich is 8-3 on the spring after back-to-back 6-0, 6-0 wins on Monday (at Anoka) and on Tuesday; Kent McKimmy played his first singles match this spring and won 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday to improve to 7-1 overall.
STMA defeated Anoka 4-3 in a non-conference match on Monday as the duos of Matt Odegard/Kevin Caron, McKimmy/Aaron Dorland and Grant Moser/John Budde swept the doubles competitions.
The Knights travel to Becker for a conference contest on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
Boys Golf: Knights Second At Fox Hollow
A team score of 315 over 18 holes was good for second place for the St. Michael-Albertville boys golf squad at Fox Hollow on Tuesday. Individual results were not available.
