St. Michael-Albertville's Lavallee Hurls No-Hitter Versus Princeton

St. Michael-Albertville baseball shuts out Tigers on pitcher's 12-strikeout gem on Monday.

A Knights' no-no highlighted the Monday sports schedule as the St. Michael-Albertville baseball team got its week started off in the best fashion possible, with the Knights softball, golf and tennis teams also getting in games on a cooperative weather day.

Baseball: Knights 7, Princeton 0

Pitcher Brian Lavallee hurled a no-hitter as the St. Michael-Albertville baseball team improved to 4-4 on the season with a 7-0 defeat of Mississippi 8 Conference rival Princeton on Monday.

Tyler Dallum recorded two runs batted in as the Knights scored seven runs on just six hits due to five Tigers errors. Lavallee struck out 12 Princeton batters while walking three in his no-no.

STMA travels to Monticello on Thursday night for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Softball: Princeton 6, Knights 0

A 6-0 loss at Princeton dropped the St. Michael-Albertville softball team to 4-4 on the season with a Thursday game at Monticello next up on the schedule.

Kelsey Blank leads the Knights with a .348 batting average, while Nikki Vetsch's six RBI pacing the club.

Boys Golf: Seventh At Chanhassen Invitational

The St. Michael-Albertville boys golf team finished seventh at the Chanhassen Invititational by carding a 327 on the Deer Run Golf Course in Victoria on Monday. 

Individual statistics were not available. The Knights travel to Territory Golf Club for the St. Cloud Apollo Invitational next Monday.

Girls Golf: Sixth At Purple Hawk Invitational

A team score of 414 earned the St. Michael-Albertville girls golf team a sixth-place finish at the Purple Hawk Invitational at Purple Hawk Golf Course in Cambridge on Monday.

Coach Mitch Harmoning said the weather wasn't bad - for once.

Additional comments from Harmoning: "Sam Wortman’s 92  (five pars/eight bogeys) led the Knights. Kylie Slavin started to find last years form a little with a season best 98 on the long course in Cambridge. Kylie said that her "driver was awesome, but her short game needs to come around a little."

Sophomore Maddie Malone added in a 108.  

"Maddie hit the ball very well, but just couldn’t score…she hasn’t been doing either lately, so the positive out of Cambridge was the ball striking. Megan Cichos and Kate Drimel (eighth grade) rounded out the scoring tied with a 116.  

Wortman's 92 was good enough for sixth after but she won the tiebreakers vs. two other players.  

The Knights are slated to play in a Mississippi 8 meet at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker on Thursday, weather permitting.

Boys Tennis: Champlin Park 4, Knights 3

The St. Michael-Albertville boys tennis team lost, 4-3, to Champlin Park on Monday to fall to 2-6 on the season.

Individual statistics were not available. The Knights are scheduled to host Rogers at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
