Maple Grove Knocks Off St. Michael-Albertville in Section Semifinals

The Knights couldn't find an answer against the Crimson, as the No. 4 seed knocked off No. 1 in St. Cloud.

Seedings can be a bit deceiving. 

If you had asked St. Michael-Albertville coach Tim Anfenson heading into the weekend a team in the Section 8-4A semifinals that looked strong heading down the stretch, he would have mentioned Maple Grove.

Unfortunately for the Knights, he was right.

Maple Grove, seeded No. 4, knocked off the top seeded St. Michael-Albertville squad 70-51 Saturday night at St. Cloud State University. 

In the other semifinal, Buffalo topped Moorhead, which means the Bison still have a shot of sending both the boys' and girls' squads to state.

For the Knights, that dream is over, as both teams lost on back-to-back nights.
