Boys Soccer

On the heels of winning its first-ever Mississippi 8 Conference title, the STMA boys soccer team was rewarded with a No. 2 seed for the Section 8AA Tournament and home games for at least the first two rounds of the playoffs.

The Knights, 10-4-2 in the regular season, host seventh seed Rogers — whom STMA beat 3-0 on Oct. 4 — at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

A win advances the Knights to a semifinal home game against either No. 3 Elk River or No. 6 St. Cloud Tech on Saturday. STMA lost to the Elks by a 4-2 score at home on Sept. 10.

Girls Soccer

After also clinching the conference championship, the STMA girls soccer team was also awarded the No. 2 seed for its 8AA playoff bracket and earned the right to play at least two sectional games at home.

Following a 10-2-4 regular season, the Knights will host No. 7 St. Cloud Tech on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. STMA and Tech tied 1-1 in a Sept. 13 matchup.

If the home side is able to earn an opening-round win, they would host either No. 3 Buffalo or No. 6 Moorhead on Saturday. STMA defeated Buffalo 1-0 on Sept. 20 and tied Moorhead 3-3 on Sept. 9.

Volleyball

The STMA volleyball team hosted an invitational on Oct. 7-8 and came in 13th after going 3-2 over five matches in the two days.

Individual statistics were not available. The Knights, 14-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference, enter this week tied with Rogers atop the Mississippi 8 standings.

STMA can clinch at least a share of the conference crown with a win at Becker in its Mississippi 8 finale on Thursday. Buffalo plays at Rogers in the final conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Knights close out the regular season with an appearance at the Eastview Tournament this weekend, followed by a non-conference matchup at Class AAA's No. 1-ranked Blaine on Thursday, Oct. 20.
